Sustainable water supply: support for people, sustainability for the community

The project is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted water supply in Solonitsivska community of Kharkiv region. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly increase the standard of living of residents and create conditions for the sustainable functioning of social infrastructure.

How it was

The project was implemented in November—December 2024. The main activities included:

  1. Formation of a working group: the team of the Agency, representatives of the Solonitsivska settlement council and KP “Solonytsivske Zhek” were involved.
  2. Procurement of generators: four mobile generators were purchased to ensure the operation of the well pumps during de-energization.
  3. Installation and testing: generators have been successfully tested on community facilities and transferred to the balance sheet of the municipal enterprise.

Impressive results

  • Provided uninterrupted water supply for more than 13,000 inhabitants, including 2,170 IDPS.
  • Restored functioning 6 fire hydrantswhich improved the safety of the community.
  • A mobile generator system has been created, which allows you to quickly respond to emergencies.

Challenges and Achievements

The success of the project was made possible by careful planning and a flexible approach. Difficulties such as unstable power supply situation and logistical problems have been overcome through preliminary market analysis and close cooperation with partners.

Impact on the community

  • Technic: generators ensured the stable operation of water bodies important for residential areas, educational, medical and cultural institutions.
  • Social: improved the living conditions of vulnerable categories of the population, such as children, the elderly and IDPs.
  • Psychological: the project has become a symbol of hope and confidence in the recovery of the community.

What left this project

“Stable water supply” has created not only a technical but also a social infrastructure that helps the community adapt to the conditions of war. This is an example of effective cooperation between local authorities, utilities and public organizations. The project has been the basis for further initiatives that support community sustainability and development.
